KURUKSHETRA: In a breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Kurukshetra police arrested two individuals and recovered a significant quantity of narcotics. Acting on precise intelligence, Kurukshetra crime investigation agency (CIA)-I, under the supervision of SP Nitish Agrawal, apprehended Jaswant Singh, a resident of Moya Khera in Jhalawar district, Rajasthan, and seized 1.78 kilograms of opium from his possession.Police also arrested Ranjit Singh, a resident of Salpani village in Kurukshetra, who is accused of ordering the narcotic substance. The accused were presented in the court on Friday, which granted eight days of police remand for further investigation.
According to the police spokesperson, on May 8, 2025, a team from CIA-I, comprising ASI Sandeep Kumar, SI Sharanjit Singh, Dheer Singh, head constable (HC) Pravesh Kumar, constable Satbir, and driver HC Devinder Kumar — was stationed near Sector 10, Kurukshetra, during a crime prevention operation.
Acting on a tip-off, the team learned that two individuals were involved in trafficking opium, smack, and heroin using a motorcycle (registration HR-07-AE-1675) in the area.
Following the lead, the team began surveillance near Sector 10 and called in Thanesar City DSP Om Prakash as the supervising officer. Shortly after, two young men matching the description were spotted with the said motorcycle. Upon questioning, they identified themselves as Jaswant Singh and Ranjit Singh. A search conducted in the presence of the DSP led to the recovery of 1.78 kg of opium from their possession.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the Thanesar City Police Station.
The Kurukshetra police reaffirmed their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking and urged the public to report any suspicious activities.
