NEW DELHI: A murder accused with a Rs 1 lakh reward was killed in a police encounter during a joint operation by Mainpuri Police and Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force's Agra unit near Tarapur Cut bridge on Monday night, authorities reported.

Director General of Police Prashant Kumar said that the accused, identified as Jitendra, was injured during an exchange of fire with law enforcement officials.
"Jitendra was taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared him 'brought dead'," the state police chief said.
Police recovered several items from the scene, including a motorcycle, a pistol, cartridges, and bullet shells.
