Kamal Haasan shared an incident from over a decade ago involving his close friend, MP John Brittas. He recalled being surrounded by college students when MP Brittas asked how he could marry twice, despite following Lord Ram. Kamal Haasan responded by saying he doesn't pray to any god and doesn't follow Lord Ram's path. He humorously added, "Perhaps I follow his father's (Dasharatha) path, who had three wives."

Kamal Haasan married dancer Vani Ganapathy in 1978, and they worked together on the film Melnaattu Marumagal that same year. However, their marriage ended in divorce 10 years later. In 1988, he married actress Sarika, and they had two daughters: Shruti Haasan (born in 1986) and Akshara Haasan (born in 1991). Their marriage also ended in divorce in 2004, after two years of separation. Kamal later dated actress Gautami from 2005 to 2016. While Kamal's name has been linked to several actresses, the only relationship he has publicly acknowledged is with legendary South Indian actress Srividya.
