WWE notified wrestler Sonya Deville that the industry would not be renewing her agreement, after which Sonya Deville’s one-decade run with the company came to an end.
In a recent podcast episode of “Daria and Toni Unwrapped”, Sonya Deville shared that she received shocking news that her agreement wouldn’t be renewed by the company after a decade-long journey with WWE.
After receiving this news she maintained a business-minded perspective and said that it’s a business and the company's decision was at last considered as part of the industry.
Sonya Deville Revealed How She Gets the News About Her Non-Renewed Contract
In an emotional video posted to her Youtube channel, Sonya Deville confessed about her sudden departure from the WWE. Sonya Deville revealed that she was shocked when she received the call notifying her that her agreement would not be renewed by the company.
“I got the call. My contract was not being renewed with the WWE. I got the phone call. We were in the middle of negotiations, so I thought the phone call was going to be middle ground that we met on. An agreement on a contract. It was, ‘We are not renewing your contract.’ I was shocked.”
Chatting on the podcast she co-hosts with her wife, “Daria and Toni Unwrapped,” Sonya Deville presented her first public comments on the news.
"I was shocked," Deville said. "You work somewhere for 10 years consecutively, you become like a family, so it was unexpected.""I had the greatest 10 years of my life," she continued. "The stories on the road, the traveling, the wrestling, the performing. Sonya Deville was very frustrated and emotional after getting the non-renewed agreement news from the company but later acknowledged that the company's decision was eventually part of the industry.
“At the end of the day, it’s a business. I think business-minded. For whatever the reason is, I don’t know the reason, and I could sit here and try to come up with one or guess. ‘It was definitely that. I said or did that.’ I put 150% effort in the entire ten years, but most importantly the last three. I went down to the Performance Center on my own time. Moved there for two months to train to get the rust off.”After getting her start on the sixth season of “WWE Tough Enough” Sonya Deville invested many years in developmental before performing in the main roster in 2017. After then Sonya Deville became a member of Absolution besides Mandy Rose and Paige, in which Paige is their manager.
The partnership between Deville and Rose survived their connection with Paige, though that ultimately fell apart as well, leading to a rivalry between the two.
Most recently, Sonya Deville was seen leading the group Pure Fusion Collective earlier to the news about her agreement termination.
