The mythological science fiction Telugu film 'Kalki 2898 AD' was released in theatres in May and the film has grossed more than Rs 1200 crore at the box office. Directed by
Nag Ashwin, the film features

Amitabh Bachchan,
Kamal Haasan,
Deepika Padukone in lead roles and the music for it is composed by
Santhosh Narayanan. Variety reported that the film is gearing up for its release in Japan early next year.
In a report, it stated that the makers are distributing the film to two production houses in Japan to release the movie there in January 2025 for the audience to enjoy Following 'RRR', the fans for the Telugu film stars and films has extensively increased there and now joining the line of Prasanth Varma's 'HanuMan' is the Prabhas starrer 'Kalki 2898 AD'.
In other news, the film will also showcased at the Busan International Film Festival which is underway. Set in the dystopian era after the post apocalypse, the movie is about the birth of Kalki - 10th avatar of lord Vishnu.
Kamal Haasan plays the antagonist as the supreme power Yaskin who tries to stop the birth of Kalki as it will mark his ending on the world. Amitabh Bachchan plays the immortal Ashwathama who seeks help from Bhairava, Prabhas who is said to be the incarnation of Karna from Mahabharatha.
The makers have already shot 25 days for the sequel and the pre-production is underway. The second part of the film is said to be out in theatres in 2027. The rest of the film's cast includes Pasupathy, Shobana, Anna Ben, Disha Patani and Brahmanandam, SS Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma, Vijay Devarakonda, Mrunal Thakur and Dulquer Salmaan appearing in cameo roles.
