Our fury reached Rawalpindi HQ: Rajnath Singh
Defence minister Rajnath Singh Sunday lauded armed forces for avenging the Pahalgam massacre, stressing Operation Sindoor success had conveyed a message to terrorists. “Reverberations of action could be felt in Rawalpindi.”
Displaying great valour and might, Indian armed forces have given an effective response. We not only targeted military installations but the reverberations of the action could be felt also in Rawalpindi where the Pakistan army is headquartered,” defence minister Rajnath Singh said in what appeared to be a reference to IAF’s successful strikes deep inside Pakistan Punjab.
He said that coming after the surgical strikes in Uri and the airstrike on Balakot post-Pulwama, the multiple strikes as part of Operation Sindoor represented the Modi govt's zero-tolerance stance towards terrorism. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that it is new India which will not flinch from carrying out effective attacks on terrorism on both sides of the border,” he added.
Significantly, Singh's remarks, the first by a senior minister after India acceded to Pakistan's plea to pause hostilities, came in his virtual address at the inauguration of a production facility of BrahMos missiles which were part of the arsenal IAF effectively used against Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
Singh said Operation Sindoor was not just a military operation but also symbolised the country's political, social and strategic willpower under the Modi government. “We have shown that no space across the border is going to be safe from our counter-terror operations,” he added.
